For students who have already completed their 32 or 24 classroom hours* with another entity and would like to do their driving portion through our school, this can be done with our Behind the Wheel/Drive and Observe Only Course. The course is $400 and includes the 14 in-car hours with an instructor (7 driving hours and 7 observation hours). The required 30 parent driving hours for the Teenage Course will still need to be completed by the approved parent at home.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Student must be between the ages of 15-18 years old.
-Student must hold and submit a copy of a valid Texas Learner’s Permit. This permit will need to be physically on them and valid for every lesson.
-Student must submit a Texas DRIVERS LICENSE ONLY DE964 that has been marked as a TRANSFER to the Community Driving School.
NOTE: two different certificates are obtained during a Texas Teenage Driver’s Education Course. The differing subtitles of LEARNERS LICENSE ONLY and DRIVERS LICENSE ONLY are notated at the top of the certificate. Please ensure the correct “DRIVERS LICENSE ONLY” certificate is marked as a TRANSFER to our school.
PROCESS:
-Please send: info@communitydrivingtexas.com copies of the valid Learner's Permit and Transferred DE964. If you have not sent these in by the time your registration and payment, an email will be sent to you by staff after we receive your registration requesting these documents. Once submitted, these documents will be reviewed within 24 hours by our staff. After review, you will be sent an email with the instructions for your next steps and how to use our scheduling site: schedule2drive.com.
-Students who submit incorrect documents can resubmit with no penalty.
-Students who require a refund for not meeting the above requirements will inquire a $30 service fee.
DRIVING LESSONS:
-Driving lessons are conducted at our office. At this time, we do not offer pick up/drop off services for students.
-Students will complete 7 two-hour lessons through our school. Each lesson will contain one hour of driving and one hour of observation.
-Our scheduling calendar extends three weeks out and all lessons are self-scheduled online. Summertime lessons are all day every day and lessons during the school year will be conducted after-school and on weekends.
*Texas driver's education requirements have changed to reduce the required minimum number of classroom hours from 32 to 24. Students must complete all required classroom hours as outlined in their course before they may start our behind-the-wheel course.
